Wirtshaus Residencies was an one-year-long artists-in-residency program realized with the support of the Linz Import cultural funding. Our aim was to establish a dialogue between Linz and other prominent cultural hubs across Europe. In the timeframe of one week, our invited sound artists were given the means and the support needed to develop a sonic intervention inspired by the local context. Each residency was completed with a presentation of the work, in the format in which it emerged. The outcome of the residency was documented and archived in our digital database, and when suitable, released in the format of physical artefacts of limited edition. The residency program functioned in the framework of Wirtshaus Secrets, a publishing platform that aims at documenting and archiving the work of Linz-based artists that use the medium of sound as their creative outlet.
