About
Daphne Xanthopoulou (she/they) is a new media artist, musician, and sound designer based in Barcelona, Spain.
In her artistic practice, she uses deep listening and speculative methodologies to expose the spectral space as a commons of human and more-than-human agencies. Through her exploration of sound art, experimental music, interactive installation, and performance she extends an invitation to the listener to connect with critical issues through sound, in immersive and thought-provoking ways.
She has published music on labels including Paralaxe Editions, tssstapes, and Exiles with her albums receiving praise among others by the Quietus, and A Closer Listen. In 2021, her The Plumb Sutra (Bezirk Tapes, UK), was highlighted in Bandcamp Daily’s Best Experimental Music column. Alongside that, her interactive work has been showcased in institutions like Ars Electronica Festival, and featured in publications such as Clot Magazine.
She holds a Master’s degree in digital arts from the Interface Cultures department of the University of Art and Design, Linz as well a Master’s degree in Music Therapy from the University of Barcelona and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Athens' Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences.
