Daphne Xanthopoulou (she, they) is a sound artist and designer, new media nomad and curator currently based in Linz, Austria. Working through performance, podcast and installation, she employs the means of sonic story-telling and speculative fiction, to explore economies of collective composition, speculative listening and communal healing.

In her new media work, she uses collaborative practices that result in participatory experiences which allow us to listen to more than human agencies and to expose the material infrastructure and ecosocial interdependencies of technological growth.

Her music has been published in labels such as Exiles(HU), tssstapes(IT), acclaimed by the Quietus Spool’s Out Cassette Review and broadcasted by the Late Junction show on BBC3. Her latest album “The Plumb Sutra”(Bezirk Tapes, UK), was featured in Bandcamp Daily’s Best Experimental Music column in November 2021.

She’s the co-founder of the sonic arts curatorial platform and events series Cachichi and the experimental music publishing imprint Wirtshaus Secrets, which in 2022 run a residency program for sound artists supported by the LinzImport fund of the Ministry of Culture of Linz, Austria.

She has a background in psychology and music therapy, and she’s currently studying at the Interface Cultures MA, at the Kunstuni, Linz, Austria.
