Daphne Xanthopoulou (she/they) is an Athens-born, Barcelona-based diasporic sound sympoiet of Anatolian heritage, exhausting {sonic} storytelling as a reworlding strategy for care, persistance, and re-memberance.
Her work spans studio work, participatory performance and interactive installation, formats through which she invites audiences to engage with layered questions in playful ways.
She has performed her music at venues such as Cafe OTO and Kraak Festival, while her commissioned works have been presented at major festivals including Ars Electronica, and Manifesta.
Her music, released on labels like Paralaxe Editions, tssstapes, and Exiles, has received critical acclaim, with her albums praised by The Quietus, A Closer Listen, and Bandcamp Daily (2021, 2024). In addition to her sonic practices, she has published essays, poetry, and fiction.
She holds an MA in Digital Arts from the Interface Cultures program (under Christa Sommerer & Laurent Mignonneau) at the University of Art and Design Linz, an MA in Music Therapy from the University of Barcelona, and a BA in Psychology from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in Athens. She is currently pursuing a PhD at the Full-Body Interaction Lab at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, researching on interaction design for social inclusion.
