Daphne Xanthopoulou(she/they) is an Athens-born, Barcelona-based sound artist and designer of Anatolian Greek descent, whose work explores sonic storytelling and listening as world-building forces that rekindle our connection to the material world and reclaim our power for personal and communal healing.

Daphne’s genre-fluid music production, at times described as ‘otherworldly’, ‘industrial pop’, persistently returns to hypnotic vocal melodies, organic textures, subtle noise, rhythmic patterns, and eerie synthesized atmospheres. Her sound uncompromisingly draws on influences from ambient, noise, club, and west asian music cultures. Her studio albums have been released on labels like Paralaxe Editions, tssstapes, and Exiles have received praise from The Quietus, A Closer Listen, and Bandcamp Daily (2024, 2021). She has performed in venues such as Cafe Oto, and Kraak Festival.

Daphne hosts Sonic Utopias on Stegi Radio, a show investigating diverse intersections of sound and politics, through speculative sonic fictions, music mixes, and in-depth conversations with artists she finds inspiring, who are invited to share their work and reflect on challenging questions. She has also contributed through music journaling to Vienna’s platform Struma+Iodine -.

As a sound designer at her co-founded Undoing.studio, Daphne has collaborated with media artists such as Entangled Others, NVISIBLE.STUDIO, and Akyute, and frequently works with dancers, integrating elements of sonic interaction.
Her solo and collaborative sound installations and compositions have been presented at festivals including Ars Electronica, Manifesta, Unsafe Sounds, and Sónar.

Together with Błażej Kotowski, she has been curating and organizing events of experimental music, and sound art, through the initiatives Cachichi, and Wirtshaus Secrets.

At the moment Daphne is pursuing a PhD at the Full-Body Interaction Lab at Barcelona’s Universitat Pompeu Fabra, where she explores the potential of embodied design in inclusive education.
